Our History

Extel Communications was founded in 1991 by former Western Electric and Southwestern Bell employees. Our founders put their knowledge and decades of experience to work for our customers as a trusted installation vendor. Through a number of small jobs we gained the trust of our customers. As the needs of our customers grew, Extel Communications grew into a full service company, providing engineering and furnishing services as well as installation (EF&I).

Over the years, Extel became the vendor of choice for many in the telecommunications industry.  Following the passage of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, Extel was proud to partake in the massive telecom infrastructure build-out which created the backbone of our existing Internet and wireless world. 

During the telecom and dot-com busts of 2001 many EF&I vendors were not able to survive. Extel Communications not only remained in business, but thrived in the new environment. Extel focused on increased employee training, safety and cutting costs in an effort to focus on the needs of our customers. 

Since 2001 we have completed over 3500 jobs for our customers without missing a single deadline or causing a service outage. Our recent projects include engineering and installation equipment from manufacturers such as: ADC, Adtran, Alcatel, Cisco, Fujitsu, Nortel, Symmetricom, Telect, Tellabs, Westel.
